Answers to common questions about setup, monitoring, connectivity, LTE service and pet safety.
Getting Started
Setup basics for your RigSentry monitor and mobile app.
How do I set up my RigSentry monitor?
Place RigSentry inside your RV and connect the monitor to power. Open the RigSentry mobile app and follow the setup process to associate the monitor with your account and configure Wi-Fi.
Once the device is connected, the app will begin showing monitor status and environmental readings.
Where should I place RigSentry inside my RV?
Place the monitor in the primary living area of your RV where it can reasonably represent the conditions you want to monitor.
Avoid placing it directly against heating or cooling vents, in direct sunlight or immediately beside another strong source of heat or cold.
Does RigSentry work with iPhone and Android?
RigSentry is designed to work with the RigSentry mobile app on supported iOS and Android devices.
Wi-Fi & LTE Connectivity
How does RigSentry connect to the internet?
RigSentry uses Wi-Fi as its primary connection. When an available configured Wi-Fi network is present, the monitor can use that connection to synchronize monitoring data with the RigSentry cloud.
What is RigSentry LTE service?
Optional RigSentry LTE service adds cellular connectivity for owners who want another way for their monitor to stay connected when suitable Wi-Fi is not available.
LTE service is sold separately from the RigSentry monitor.
What happens if RigSentry loses connectivity?
The app can indicate when monitoring data is no longer current or the device is not communicating normally. Connectivity depends on the availability of the configured Wi-Fi network or cellular service if LTE is active.
Alerts & Monitoring
Can I set high and low temperature alerts?
Yes. RigSentry lets you configure temperature conditions that matter to you so you can be notified when monitoring readings move outside your chosen limits.
Can RigSentry tell me if shore power is lost?
Yes. RigSentry monitors whether external shore power is available. This is especially useful when equipment such as air conditioning or refrigeration depends on external power.
What environmental conditions does RigSentry monitor?
RigSentry monitors temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure. The app also displays information about shore power, internal battery status and device connectivity.
Can I review historical monitoring data?
Yes. The RigSentry app provides historical views so you can see how environmental conditions inside your RV have changed over time.
Pet Safety
How can RigSentry help when a pet is inside the RV?
RigSentry gives you remote visibility into conditions inside your RV. You can monitor temperature, watch shore power status and configure alerts while your pet is inside the rig.
RigSentry is a monitoring and notification product and should not be relied upon as the sole means of protecting people, pets or property.
How does the RigSentry Pet Safety window sticker work?
A passerby can scan the QR code on the RigSentry Pet Safety sticker and enter the device code shown on the sticker.
The public safety page can then show current monitoring information and provide a way for the person to contact the RV owner if they are concerned.
Can someone who scans my sticker contact me?
The Pet Safety experience is designed to give concerned passersby a way to message the owner without requiring the owner's personal contact information to be printed on the RV window.
Troubleshooting
My RigSentry is showing offline or stale data. What should I check?
- Confirm the monitor is powered.
- Check whether the configured Wi-Fi network is available.
- If you use LTE service, confirm the service is active and cellular coverage is available.
- Check the RigSentry app for battery and connectivity status.
- If the problem continues, contact RigSentry Support with your device ID and a description of what you are seeing.
Shore power status does not look correct. What should I do?
Confirm the monitor is properly connected and that external RV power is actually available. If shore power status still does not match your RV's condition, contact support with your RigSentry device ID and details about the installation.
My temperature reading seems different from another thermometer.
Temperature readings can vary depending on where devices are placed. Direct sunlight, air-conditioning vents, heaters and surfaces that retain heat can create localized differences.
Compare sensors placed near each other under similar conditions before determining whether a reading is abnormal.
